University Life created a comprehensive action and education page about racial justice and the Black Lives Matter movement.
Diversity and inclusion are catalysts for institutional and educational excellence. Faculty Affairs and Development provides an intentional and integrated approach to supporting faculty inclusive excellence, by focusing on faculty needs at different career stages, across different faculty appointment types, and across faculty roles.
In support of Mason's mission to foster an inclusive, equitable and thriving faculty community, the Director of Faculty Diversity, Inclusion and Well-being identified and developed resources that support faculty, department chairs and search committees in making their recruitment and hiring of faculty more diverse and equitable.
Through involvement in the Anti-racism Inclusive Excellence Initiative (ARIE), launched by President Gregory Washington in August 2020, Faculty Affairs is also working with units across the university to revise policies and practices, and develop training programs that will support building a more diverse faculty at Mason.
Faculty Affairs and Development also collaborates with the Center for the Advancement of Well-Being to offer resources to support Mason faculty, including development of two websites to support faculty and staff through the Covid-19 pandemic:
- Supporting the Whole Faculty Member During the Covid-19 Pandemic (Faculty Affairs and Development)
- Well-Being Resources to Use During the Coronavirus Pandemic (Center for the Advancement of Well-Being)
